HOME Welcome to the ARDL website

ARDL was set up in 2002 to reflect the increase in the regulation of businesses and professions of all kinds during recent years. Many members practice predominantly or exclusively in the field of regulation or professional discipline. Some work for the regulators, some for the regulated; likewise those involved in professional discipline. The membership of ARDL represents the spectrum of regulatory and disciplinary work, including the legal, accounting and medical professions and those concerned with financial services. Membership now stands at over 600 comprising about 70% solicitors and 30% barristers.

The purpose of the Association is to advance, foster and encourage amongst its members education, training and the exchange of information in all matters relating to the practice of regulatory and disciplinary law, and to influence reforms of relevant law and procedure.

The Association organises regular social and training events. Seminars, followed by a drinks reception, have taken place on the following topics:-

  • The Regulation of Lawyers
  • Disclosure under the FSMA and GMC Regimes,
  • The Data Protection Act
  • Money Laundering update
  • Mediation for Regulators
  • Judicial Review and Regulators

Standard of Proof and Rules of Evidence in Disciplinary proceedings

Four Annual Dinners and one Summer Party have also been greatly enjoyed by members and their guests.

We produce a Quarterly Newsletter to help members to keep up to date in this topical and challenging area of the law.
