Legal Services Regulation – The Impact of Brexit and the Changing Landscape

The ARDL 2017 seminar series starts with examining the impact of Brexit on the legal services market and the other developments in this area. This highly topical subject is one which is at the top of the agenda for lawyers and regulators and is one in a series of Brexit and professional regulation seminars which ARDL will be running during 2017.

Hugh MercerQC is Chairman of the CCBE EU Lawyers Committee (www.ccbe.eu), a committee which handles cross border regulatory issues affecting all EU Bars. He is also Chair of the Bar Council’s Brexit Committee. https://essexcourt.com/barrister/hugh-mercer-qc/ He will review the impact of Brexit on the regulation of legal services including the various European Directives which apply to the free movement of lawyers across the EU.

Richard Coleman QC has a broad commercial and regulatory practice, and has acted in some of the leading cases involving the discipline of solicitors. http://www.fountaincourt.co.uk/people/richard-coleman/. He will review the likely developments in legal services regulation and ethics over the coming year.
