Time: 17:30 - 19:00
Venue: Edinburgh

Introduction and Chaired by: Rosemary Rollason, ARDL

Venue: The Picture House, Scotsman Hotel, North Bridge, Edinburgh

ARDL Scotland is delighted to welcome Kenneth Hamer to Edinburgh for this seminar. Kenneth’s name is among the best known in professional regulation, not only due to his long career in this are but also because his book, the Professional Conduct Casebook, in which he brings together cases by topic is the must-have go-to publication for everyone working in this area, whether inhouse regulators, presenters or defence.  Now just out in its 4th Edition, Kenneth comes to Edinburgh to give us the benefit of his years of expertise. In discussion with the seminar’s chair, Rosemary Rollason, Kenneth will look back on the significant events and cases in professional regulation which have led to the significant development of this area of law and his extensive career in it, both prosecuting and defending in front of disciplinary committees, sitting as a legal adviser and now legally qualified chair with the GMC and others, and the decision to make the commitment to authorising the Professional Conduct Casebook.  Kenneth will also discuss how he keeps on top of the extensive body of work required to edit new editions of the book at regular intervals and highlight what he has thought of some of the key cases of 2023 so far.

Rosemary Rollason will introduce Kenneth and chair the event. Rosemary is an ARDL Committee member and a former ARDL Committee Secretary for many years who helped pioneer the development of ARDL. She has worked in the professional regulation field alongside Kenneth across her career with Field Fisher, Slater Gordon and Bevan Brittan and has also sat as the legal adviser to the disciplinary committees of a number of regulators.

To be followed by a Q&A session and a drinks reception.
