We are currently looking for a Lawyer to join the Fourth National Lottery Competition (4NLC) for a 12 month, fixed term contract.

As a Lawyer, you will play a key role in the development of the competition as the programme enters its second phase, delivering legal advice at pace to colleagues across the programme.
Handling a complex and varied caseload, you will provide legal advice on procurement and commercial law, contract law and procedure, regulatory law matters, national lottery matters (such as licence requirements) and freedom of information and data protection.
Your role will also involve:
– Attending and advising at decision-making and programme delivery meetings
– Supporting Senior 4NLC Lawyers
– Maintaining key relationships
– Ensuring the Gambling Commission obtain value for money in all legal matters and tasks
To be considered as a Lawyer, you will need:
– To hold a practicing certificate as either a solicitor/barrister or a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Legal Executives entitled to practice in England and Wales
– Experience in advising on commercial and/or contract matters, procurement processes, public law and/or regulatory matters, including interpretation and exercise of powers
– A track-record of managing a varied and complex caseload, taking a proactive approach to delivery of legal services
– To be a team player with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to see the bigger picture
– Excellent written communication, verbal and presentation skills, including the ability to negotiate and influence
– Confidence and the ability to establish and maintain constructive working relationships with colleagues and key external stakeholders
– A commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion
Experience in gambling law would be beneficial to your application. A good understanding of the workings of central government, including its financial, legal and political context, would also be an advantage.

It is anticipated that we will go back into the office on a flexible agile basis from September and you can be based in our London or Birmingham office.
