Contract: 1x Permanent and 1x 12 month Fixed Term Contract

We have an exciting opportunity in our In-house Legal Presentation Services Team. We are looking for two Fitness to Practise Lawyers (FtP) to join the team. Our Fitness to Practise Lawyers conduct a substantial Fitness to Practise caseload including complex matters of the Council’s FTP presentation cases and ensure cases are presented to one of the GDC’s Practice Committees in a timely and cost-effective manner.
The role
- Managing an FTP caseload in accordance with team procedures to a high standard.
- Liaising with internal and external stakeholders.
- Determine the evidence required and obtain that evidence (witness statements and expert evidence as appropriate).
- Ensuring that cases are transparently case managed to the final fitness to practice hearing or another disposal as appropriate.
- Supervise and direct the work of more junior team members.
- Encourage and support more junior team members to develop their knowledge and skills.
- Engage in team and organisation project work when the opportunity arises.
About you:
The successful candidate will have:
- Qualified solicitor, barrister, Chartered Legal Executive, or foreign qualified equivalent.
- Extensive knowledge of the legal framework relating to healthcare regulation.
- Ability to handle a high-volume, high complexity caseload.
- Strong drafting and legal analytical skills.
