Salary: £34,735 – £40,864 pa

Location: London – Hybrid (2 days minimum office attendance)

Contract: Fixed term contract for 12 months.

The General Dental Council (GDC) is the statutory body responsible for regulating dental professionals in the UK.

We have an exciting opportunity to join our Legal Presentations Team in a varied and interesting role as a Paralegal (Legal Operations) on a fixed term basis. The Paralegal (Legal Operations) will support various activities led by the Legal Operations and External Contracts Manager and will involve working closely with the GDC’s panel firms on some of the GDC’s most complex fitness to practise matters.

You will support the administration and management of a caseload of fitness to practise cases, ensuring all actions are taken in a timely manner. The role involves preparation of case bundles to support instructions, drafting and inputting to key legal and case management documents. You will also have the opportunity to get involved in various organisational and team projects.

We aim to provide the opportunity to develop your paralegal legal skills in the regulatory environment as well as legal operations skills. As such you will also work in close collaboration with paralegals in the In-house Legal Presentation Service (ILPS).

About you:

The successful candidate will need:

  • Evidence of legal qualifications or extensive relevant legal experience.
  • Healthcare regulation experience or transferable litigation experience.
  • Strong written, oral communication, analytical and interpersonal skills.
  • Exceptional documentation skills – including drafting and preparing case documentation/bundles, with the ability to be clear and concise.
  • Experience of dealing with a variety of stakeholders, including members of the public.
  • Demonstrable experience of planning and organising workload and managing own time effectively.
  • Comply with GDC policies and statutory obligations, including data protection and equality, diversity and inclusion.
  • Strong ICT skills, including the use of case management systems and Microsoft Office products.
