Hours: Full time
This Paralegal role offers an excellent career development opportunity to expand your analytical and research skills, work for the public good, and gain invaluable experience in the healthcare regulation sector.
The General Dental Council’s Fitness to Practise function is vital in ensuring public confidence in the dental sector. We investigate concerns of shortcomings in conduct or competence where patients may be at serious risk. When appropriate we take action to mitigate that risk. In this key role, reporting to a Senior Paralegal, you will be responsible for administering a caseload of fitness to practise cases, ensuring that all actions are taken in a timely manner, under the guidance of a prosecutions lawyer. This will include preparing documents and witness statements, undertaking legal research, dealing with verbal and written correspondence, and ensuring records are accurately maintained.
Evidence of legal qualifications would be an advantage. Relevant legal experience is essential. Experience in healthcare regulation or other regulatory settings would be desirable. More important will be demonstrable experience of thriving in an environment where a high level of skill in writing, analysis and research was required, in addition to dealing with multiple stakeholders, including the general public. If you have the ability to compose documents and reports clearly and concisely using plain English, and can plan and organise your workload effectively, we would like to hear from you.
Our primary purpose is to protect patient safety and maintain public confidence in dental services. To achieve this, we register qualified dental professionals, set standards for the dental team, investigate complaints about dental professionals’ fitness to practise, and work to ensure the quality of dental education.
Our work matters and so do our people. We are committed to providing a working environment that embraces and values diversity and inclusion by recruiting and strengthening our teams with team members from different backgrounds, life experiences and viewpoints. Equality and diversity are not just words, they are what makes our teams strong and able to deliver. We want to be champions of diversity and to have a sense of belonging in the workplace, where everybody has the chance to contribute and to share what is important to them.
We offer a range of benefits including Discounted Gym Membership, Group Income Protection, Season Ticket Loan, Staff Discounts, Cycle to Work and a comprehensive Employee Assistance Programme.
