Contract: Fixed term, 2-year training contract

Salary: £34,735 – £40,864

Hours: Full time

Location: London – Hybrid, 2 days in the office, 3 days at home.

This is an exciting opportunity to build on your legal skills and experience and make a worthwhile contribution to the work of the General Dental Council (GDC) to protect the public by regulating dental professionals in the UK.

As a trainee solicitor, you will provide support to the GDC legal teams by undertaking a wide variety of tasks, including supporting regulatory, registration appeal and/or criminal prosecution cases, legal research, drafting documents, preparing advice and engaging with witnesses in proceedings. This work will be assessed for quality and timeliness in order to support providing a value for money high standard of in-house legal services.

During your recognised period of training, you will be introduced to a variety of learning and training opportunities (from both internal and external providers) which, together with the experience you will gain from each seat covering a different area of law (including professional discipline (fitness to practise), corporate and private criminal prosecutions), will ensure that by the end, you are able to meet the criteria for the SRA’s admission to the roll.

The training contract will be provided for two years (full-time) but consideration will be given to a pro-rata part-time training contract for those studying whilst working or working on a part-time basis (subject to business needs).

To be considered you will need to be educated to degree level or equivalent and will have passed the LPC or be currently studying the LPC to complete during the period of training.

Knowledge of the legal framework relating to healthcare regulation is equally important.
