The Greyhound Board of Great Britain (GBGB) is an independently audited body accredited by
UKAS. Established in 2009, GBGB replaced the British Greyhound Racing Board and the
National Greyhound Racing Club to become a single regulatory body for the sport.
Greyhound Racing is an important part of the British sporting landscape and tradition, which
has proved resilient to many challenges. As the industry continues to invest in the future of the
sport, it delivers economic benefits across Britain.GBG’s role is to safeguard the integrity and future prosperity of British greyhound racing so that
it remains a successful and sustainable sport with welfare at its heart. GBGB oversees 19 stadia
across the country and ensure each race is run fairly and cleanly. They are also responsible for
regulating the welfare and care of all racing greyhounds from their registration to retirement.
They are staffed by world-leading experts including veterinarian surgeons, academics and
animal welfare specialists all of whom love and care fir greyhounds, putting them centre-stage
in all they do.GBGB’s work over the last decade has seen huge advances in the welfare and care of their
greyhounds. Looking to the future, it is essential that British Greyhound Racing and the Betting
sector work together more closely to ensure a more equitable financial reinvestment into the
sport.The Role
Under the direction of the Greyhound Regulatory Board (GRB) the role is to manage the
regulatory function which will include managing regulatory complaints and investigations,
presentation of cases to the GBGB Disciplinary Committee and overseeing the Rules of Racing.
To act on matters in relation to certification for UKAS accreditation. This includes the licensing
and certification process involving the stadia, trainer’s kennels and the management of
Stipendiary Steward team and Regulatory Veterinarians.As a member of the Doping and Medication Review Panel, the role requires the integrity of
sampling of racing greyhounds and associated KPI’s to be managed.
Person specification
• Proven track record of operating at a senior level
• People management experience
• Experience of working in a regulatory/ legal environment
• Excellent analytical, delegation and team building skills
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• Be able to demonstrate the highest levels of integrity
• Experience of producing board level reports
