We are looking for Multiple Paralegal roles for our FTP Legal Services Department.
FTP Paralegal – Frontloaded Investigation
FTP Paralegal – Case Preparation (12 months fixed term)
The FTP Legal Services Department is a specialised legal team within the HCPC providing comprehensive support for fitness to practise cases across 15 health and care professions. The department supports the legal process in investigations and disciplinary proceedings involving professional registrants. In addition to preparing and reviewing case files for hearings and providing legal input on whether there is sufficient evidence to proceed, the legal team represent and instruct counsels in hearings. The team includes case review managers, decision makers, presenting officers, investigations lawyers, and external legal providers. Operating within a directorate managing approximately 1,900 open cases, the department ensures regulatory outcomes are reached efficiently and fairly whilst maintaining public protection at its core.

Paralegal (Front Loaded Investigations)
This role is part of our inhouse front loading investigation team. The role will involve investigating cases, from triage through to final conclusion. Some of the cases are closed against our threshold policy, some are closed by our Investigating Committee and some proceed to a final hearing. The front-loading team hold their cases throughout the whole process. This paralegal role will predominantly involve having overall responsibility for managing a case load of cases pre-IC and then supporting investigation lawyers with the cases that progress Post-IC to a final hearing.
Paralegal (Case Preparation)
We use external legal providers (ELPs) to investigate, prepare and present some of our FtP cases to our statutory committees on the HCPC’s behalf.
This particular role is to join our in-house case preparation team (a small team of lawyers and paralegals who work closely with the ELPs). The team oversees case held by the ELPs making sure that they conduct quality investigations in a timely way. The paralegal role involves ensuring the ELPs are provided with instructions they need to progress and prepare cases for hearing so that they run smoothly. It also involves ensuring that the ELPs are held accountable for concluding cases in accordance with their SLAs.
