Hours: 35 hours per week, Full-time
Starting Salary: up to £55,000 pa/pro-rata (depending on skills and experience)
Location: High Holborn, London (hybrid working with home working 3-4 days per week)
The Casework Manager role is one of the key roles in the operation of the Investigations and Enforcement Team. Reporting to the Head of the Team the postholder will have managerial responsibility for a team of legally qualified caseworkers and a paralegal. The role is available for a full-time qualified barrister, solicitor (or equivalent). The post holder will hold their own caseload including the most complex and high profile of cases as well as providing oversight and guidance on cases held by direct reports. The casework entails investigating conduct, gathering evidence, drafting statements, corresponding with barristers and witnesses and drafting reports or recommendations on disposal. The case load will include cases at the Disciplinary Tribunal stage where the post holder will be required to draft charges, review disclosure, decide on the content of bundles and respond to issues including legal challenges which arise as the case progresses. They will also be required to attend hearings and support counsel at tribunals and appeals before the High Court. As a member of the management team, the postholder will also be involved in the team’s strategy and continuous improvement activities
Experience of legal procedures or litigation and substantial experience of casework is essential, as is the ability to work effectively as part of a team, sharing knowledge and supporting other members of staff. Knowledge of regulatory procedures and/or experience of working for a regulator is desirable but not essential.
