We are the professional body for over 12,000 Scottish solicitors. As well as setting standards for and regulating solicitors, we have a role to understand and serve the needs of our members and the public.

About our committees

Our committees carry out valuable work looking at a range of issues to do with improving the law and legal practice.

Members of our Committees and Sub-Committees play a vital role in the running of the Law Society and carry out valuable work for the profession and the public.

By joining one of our many committees, you could make connections from across the profession and indeed in other professions, learn more about the work of the Society and contribute to our work influencing law and policy.

We currently have a broad range of solicitor and non-solicitor vacancies across a variety of committees:

These positions are voluntary, although reasonable expenses may be claimed.

We are particularly looking to broaden the interests, diversity and character of our committees to ensure our work continues to reflect Scotland’s legal profession and Scottish society.

You may never have considered a committee position before, or know much about us, but your experience may be invaluable to the work of the Law Society of Scotland.
