Hours: 35 hours per week, Full-time, Permanent

Starting Salary:circa £35,000 pa (depending on skills and experience)

 (Plus a benefit allowance of £1,300 per annum)

Location: High Holborn, London

The Bar Standards Board (BSB) regulates barristers and their professional practice and specialised legal services businesses in England and Wales in the public interest. We are responsible for setting education and training requirements, setting standards, authorising organisations, monitoring the service provided, and investigating allegations of misconduct, taking enforcement action where necessary. Barristers work at the heart of our justice system so the BSB’s mission is fundamentally important to the maintenance of the rule of law. 

The BSB Investigations and Enforcement team is responsible for investigating barristers conduct and taking disciplinary or other action on behalf of the BSB.

The post holder for this paralegal role will work in the Investigations and Enforcement Team. They will be responsible for supporting investigations and enforcement cases.  This will include gathering evidence, ensuring that bundles are prepared and corresponding with barristers, their representatives and witnesses. They will also be required to attend hearings and support counsel at tribunals and appeals before the High Court. Experience of legal procedures or litigation and substantial experience of supporting lawyers preparing legal cases and litigation is essential, as is the ability to work effectively as part of a team.

The post holder will have demonstrable experience of working in a legal office or similar environment, working with complex and sensitive issues.  Knowledge of regulatory procedures and/or experience of working for a regulator is desirable but not essential.
