Role Purpose and Key ResponsibilitiesWhat will the role involve?

• Lead and develop a high-performing regulatory enforcement team.
• Make delegated disciplinary and regulatory decisions in accordance with RICS policies and the principles of good regulation.
• Oversee complex investigations and prosecutions before the RICS Regulatory Tribunal.
• Provide authoritative legal advice on regulatory matters, professional conduct, and the enforceability of RICS standards.
• Instruct and manage external Counsel to ensure quality, collaboration, and cost efficiency.
• Implement systems and process improvements that strengthen decision-making and case preparation.
• Collaborate with senior colleagues to continuously enhance RICS’s regulatory framework and uphold public confidence.

• Qualification as a solicitor with substantial experience in regulatory investigations, prosecutions, or disciplinary work.
• Proven ability to manage complex case preparation and make sound, evidence-based decisions under pressure.
• Experience leading and mentoring small legal or regulatory teams.
• Excellent written and verbal communication — able to present complex issues clearly and persuasively.
• Strong understanding of the principles of good regulation and professional accountability.
• Independent judgment, political awareness, and a commitment to fairness and integrity.
